“The finish line” has a lot of meaning for me – – – sometimes my quote of the day is. . . .
“There is no finish line”
My weight loss journey has taught me, that even when I reach certain weight goals or finish lines, there is always a new one right behind it, I can never let my guard down, or rest so to speak. . . If I do, I too often find myself falling back into old yet still familiar habits that lead me backwards, and not forwards down the path I want to be on…
I also have learned to looove Finish lines – when participating in runs, or triathlons, or bike races, I really do love the finish line – that final push to get through that line – – there is no other feeling quite like it – complete exhaustion, and truly finding out what I am made of that day – – a true authentic experience for me . .
When I watch this video, the moments that really touch me are the swimming scene (of course) and at the very end of the video, as the runner struggles to get to the finish line, I am reminded of my last race 1/2 ironman race in Las Vegas, fall 2010 (the pumpkinman), after participating in the most difficult experience of my life, I NEEDED to cross that finish line on my own – and I did . . . physically, but emotionally. . . my family was just as supportive as this loving dad. It did feel just like the video. Sigh. Now I remember – again – That was a hard day…
This song is not really about either of the finish lines that I just talked about, and the lyrics of the song don’t seem to be about what the video is showing, but I thought it was a great song, and a great video, – – and once again, songs can mean so many different things to so many different people, and the meaning also changes with where you are at in your race or life – – enjoy the song, and enjoy your own race – whatever that may mean to you today…..
I love the idea of no finish line. I always thought that once I lost the weight that my fight would be over but now I now that it never ends. Thanks for sharing!
I really love this, I really needed this today! Thanks!
